AFP Healthcare Forum Nov 30

AUSTIN – The Texas Chapter of the Americans for Prosperity Foundation takes aim this week at addressing two of the biggest issues in the news – health care and cap and trade – at two separate events.

On Monday, Nov. 30, 7-9 pm at the Omni Hotel at  Southpark about 100 attendees joined AFPF State Director Peggy Venable as she hosted a Health Care Town Hall to discuss the question, “What is the best prescription for healthy reform?” Speakers were asked to discuss the merits of the health care bill that passed through the U.S. House of Representatives and the bill now being debated in the U.S. Senate. The non-partisan group invited speakers from all over the spectrum including Democrat Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX 25), and two Republican challengers for the Dist. 25 seat, Dr. Donna Campbell and George Morovich.  Jim Stutsman, an independent candidate, also met voters and spoke on the podium.

But the elusive incumbent made only a virtual appearance. That’s right, Lloyd Doggett appeared in video format since he seems to hold a distinct preference for constituents who agree with him. The more than ten minute clip showed him revving up a very enthusiastic crowd and referring to “those people on the other side of the street” as not understanding the importance or compassion of the current health care initiative – you know, the one that would effectively socialize 1/6th of the American economy.

Coming up next:

Sunday, Dec. 6, AFPF will host a screening of “Not Evil, Just Wrong,” a film that exposes the high cost of global warming hysteria. The documentary by Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney reveals the deceptions about global warming that scientists, politicians, educators and the media have been telling the public for years, and which is the basis for the cap and trade legislation now in the U.S. Senate. Dr. John Dunn of the Heartland Institute will speak about the cap and trade legislation before the screening begins.

Screening of “Not Evil, Just Wrong”
4:30 – 7 p.m.  Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009
Dave and Busters, 9333 Research Blvd. Austin, TX
